Guest Designer Riikka Kovasin Shares Her Amazing November Magnifique Mixed Media Kit Projects!

Hi there and greetings from Helsinki! My name is Riikka Kovasin and I'm mixed media inspired scrapbooker from Finland. I live in Helsinki, the capital of Finland and have been making pages since 2009. I love to use different mediums in my work and layer them.

I'm really happy to be guesting for C'est Magnifique and created a few projects using November papers and the Mixed Media Kit! I made three scrapbooking layouts and a canvas. I hope you feel inspired by these!

Here's my first page. I tend to use either analogous or even monochromatic color scheme in my pages so the first thing I did when I received the supplies was to divide them into three piles according to color - I was planning on doing three pages. So there was a yellow stash, a pink stash and a turquoise one.

Fussy cutting isn't something I do often, but the beautiful floral motifs inspired me to cut some of them out and use as an embellishment. I also love to use the beautiful packaging materials scrapbooking supplies usually have and included the top piece of the embellishment box to my page. Underneath you can see a video which shows how this page came into being!

The topic of the page is my first born who's just turning six next spring. Time really flies! The picture is taken from an everyday situation, she's eating a weekend snack there. I used mainly the kit supplies here. Besides basic crafting supplies like adhesives and scissors, I used two ink pads, yellow and dark grey, a yellow and dark grey mist, pencil and a black sharp felt pen from my stash.

Here's my second page done with the pink supplies in the kit. The photo is an old one - it's me with my parents on their first wedding anniversary after I was born. I'm about six months old. I did the background using white gesso, a pink mist and stamping. I also added the pink ink from the kit through the "fleur de lis" stencil.

I used pink papers and tags to make the layers behind the photo. Embellishments include a few flowers, the metal clock and some rhinestones. I also used one of the layered stickers to balance the design out. I also made black confetti style pieces using two little circle punches and one of the black packaging pieces in the kit. On the same packaging I also stamped the bow using the pink ink in the kit and then traced the design with a white pen.

I used the Liquid Pearls to add some final touches to the page making three rows of small pearls. Besides the Liquid Pearls and pink ink from the kit I also used white gesso, a pink mist, dark grey ink, two circle punches, some sewing thread, a pencil and a white and black felt pen in my page.

As I mentioned before, I divided the kit into three piles. This page is done with the turquoise stash. Besides the turquoise papers and embellishments I also used the twinkling watercolor and minty gesso in this page. I also recorded a step by step style video while working. You can see that below.

The pictures are of my younger daughter when she turned three. I had sewn a princess dress for my older one as a three-year-old birthday present so I did the same for her, too. And she adored the dress! It's still her favorite piece of clothing but now that her birthday is again approaching she has requested another one.

The supplies in this page from my own stash include a pencil, a black felt pen, some twine, old buttons and some sewing thread.

Besides the three pages I also made a canvas using the black and darker materials from the kit.

First I added pieces of the papers and some of the tags from the kit to a canvas. I also made a dress shape using the papers and adhered that to the canvas using gel medium. Then I painted everything black using black gesso.

I added a few lilies to the background using embossing ink and brushing the Finnabair Art Sugar to the sticky surface. Then I embellished the dress using the black feathers, the trim and the black flowers, all from the kit. I also added two different pieces of tulle and some metal thread. This canvas will form a pair to a white one I did recently for a Finnabair team blog hop.

Thank you for joining me today! I hope you feel inspired by these projects I did using the November papers and the Mixed Media Kit! If you have any questions, please leave a comment or send me a mail. You can find my email address from my blog - Paperiliitin (link). I would also love for you to visit me there or on my Instagram or Facebook

Wishing you a creative day!

TAMMY SHARES HER LAYOUTS WITH THE NOVEMBER KITS!

Hi! It is my day to share what I have done with this Beautiful November Kit from C'est Magnifique! I love the Montage paper line from Blue Fern. Then you add in flowers from Prima and Petaloo and wow!

This first layout is "Sitting Pretty"

I used items from the Main Kit and all four of the Add On kits. I used gesso from my stash on the Blue Fern chipboard chandelier then covered it with the Prima Art Sugar from the kit. I used doilies, distress ink, punches, and inked seam binding tape from my stash. This paper reminded me of of baby blanket.

The next layout "Star",
is my first grandson several years ago...

I used items from the Main Kit and all four of the Add On Kits. I looked at this picture as he was posing. So I used the camera embellies, the old slide and frame. I used a tag (from the kit) that had a star cut out as a stencil to make the stars. I used molding paste from my stash. Then watercolored them. The green gesso came in the Mixed Media Kit. I used punches, black card stock, and cheese cloth from my stash.

Next is a Layout of a house in Charleston, SC. I thought this paper was perfect for this picture.

Again, I used items from the Main Kit and all the Add On Kits. I just love the eyelash ribbon with beading! I used black card stock, punches, and ink from my stash. I also added some yellow glitter to the light on the lamp post.

This last layout is my daughter at homecoming several years ago...

Again, I used items from the Main Kit and all the Add On Kits. But I did only use one little flower from the Flower Add On kit. There are a couple of the resin flowers from the  Embellishment Add On kit in the cluster. I made a couple of flowers from the gorgeous paper using a die from my stash. I also fussy cut a lot of flowers from some of the paper. The Prima Bow stamp in the Mixed Media Add On kit matched the bows in the background so well, I stamped and embossed all the bows on the paper with white embossing powder from my stash. I also used a piece if seam binding from my stash.

This is a Gorgeous Kit! The Add On Kits are in the store and available for purchase now. The main kit will be available by the end of the month.

Thank you for stopping by!

Someone New Arriving at C'est Magnfique!

It is nearly time to reveal our November papers and add ons, but it is also time to reveal our newest designer who will be starting with the November kit, Tracey Sabella!!

Here is a little about Tracey in her own words:

Hi, My name is Tracey Sabella. I have been married to the man of my dreams, Gary, for 32 years and counting. We live atop a hill surrounded by wildlife and gorgeous forest in northeast Ohio. We are blessed with 4 wonderful children, and with two weddings in recent years our family is growing. Faith and family are the most important things in my life.

I discovered scrapbooking in 2007 and soon discovered what a wonderful creative outlet it is for me. Along the way I’ve added other forms of paper crafting such as card making and altered projects. I’ve been creating and crafting for as long as I can remember and often employ those skills in my scrapbook layouts and paper projects.

I enjoy mixing things up, but my go to style these days is what I call shabby mixed media. I adore textures and enjoy combining rugged, grungy elements with more delicate items like flowers and flourishes. I am so delighted to design for C’est Magnifique with the fabulous international products that are featured in these kits. I am blessed to design for some amazing companies including Donna Salazar Designs, Leaky Shed Studio, and Helmar. I am a regular contributor to Scrapbooking.com Magazine and am blessed to share my work each month for the Once Upon A..Sketch Challenges.

I enjoy learning new skills and relating what I’ve learned along the way. I would be honored for you to drop by my blog, Garden of Grace.

Vicky's October Projects

The "Sweet Treats" October kit features some gorgeous Maja Designs papers - the Coffee in the Arbour collection. Here is a layout I created using the gorgeous kit sketch. I used items from the main kit and the flower add-on for this layout. I even used a few pieces of Prima packaging from the flowers as layers around my image too!

This is the fantastic sketch for this month. Don't forget to enter your interpretation of this beautiful sketch for a chance to win a fantastic prize!
Next is layout of my dad and the start of his family (now has 2 more siblings) when he immigrated to Canada from Portugal. Everything on this layout is from the main kit and flower add-on except for a few doilies from my stash.  I pulled out some old creative memories tools to create the scallop circle design.

This is a display layout I created. Everything on this layout is from the main kit and flower add-on except for the doily and some seam binding from my stash.  The seam binding was tinted using the ink the kit and I also stamped on the doily with that very pretty pink ink.

A unisex birthday card to add to my stash when an unexpected event occurs. Everything on this card is from the main kit and flower add-on.

A girly gift box (kirigami folding) to add to my stash when an unexpected event occurs. Everything on this card is from the main kit and flower add-on except the seam binding... it was tinted using the pink ink in the kit.

A peek at the main kit this month...

The flower add-on I used...

Sadly this will be my final reveal using C'est Magnifique kits.  Thanks for joining me on the blog today!
