May Kit Sneak Peeks from Beverly and Erin

Hi everyone.  Today is the last day we will be posing sneak peeks of our May kit.  But that's not all bad news because next week will be the reveal.  We will be releasing photos of our beautiful May kit, along with close-ups of the embellishments.

We have two layouts to share today, but let me warn you, these layouts are SO very different from each other.  You'll have a difficult time believing that they were created with the same kit!  But we feature them in the same post to show the extreme versatility of this beautiful paper from 7 Dots Studio.  You can have a soft, subtle background or a splash of color, depending on which side of the paper you use.  Here we go with the last 2 peeks:

"I Do" by Beverly Sams

I have SO many cousins and I love them all dearly. They are each beautiful to me in their own way and I wish for all of them every happiness in the world. This layout shows the promise of such happiness for one of them! I really like the doilies and lace that looks so dimensional on these 7 Dots papers, so I decided to play that up and pile on the romantic flowers and flourishes. The white lace in the kit was spritzed with Walnut Gold Glimmer Mist and accented with the Dress It Up flats (Tuscon) included. I inked and embossed the Dusty Attic chipboard with UTEE and inked the papers with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

"King" by Erin Blegen

This stalwart little fellow is my one and only rooster, Rusty. He is an Old English Game bantam, and he might be small but he's definitely king of the yard! His coloring is so beautiful and when I looked at this photo I recently took of him, I immediately knew which papers I wanted to use to scrap it.

Believe it or not, I only used two sheets of paper to create the multiple layers included in this layout. After cutting my main circle, I tore along the outline of the circle shape left in the paper from which I'd cut it, and layered it behind that main circle. After placing both circle shapes on top of another paper, I used what was left from the paper from which my circles came, and layered THAT behind my second sheet- if that makes any sense! Then lots of distressing and stitching add to the rustic feel I wanted to accomplish.

I used the Prima mask included in the embellishment add-on, along with some paint, to create the white floral design along the lower half of my main circle- although, as happens quite often, much of it got covered up! I also used much of my most favorite medium- gesso- to play down some of the colors to create a cohesive arrangement with my flowers. Finally, my frames and tags were cut from the Prima journaling cards also included with the embellishment add-on.

Inspiration from our Design Team

Our design team loves to shop the C'est Magnifique Store. Like all our members, they pay no additional shipping for store purchases sent with their kit.  C'est Magnifique also offers reasonable shipping rates to non-members, both those in the United States and Internationally.  We'd like to show you what some of the design team has been creating using paper collections from the store.

"Dags" by Camilla Ekman using Prima Songbird Collection.

Camilla also created this card using the same line:

Here's a look at the entire Prima Songbird line of paper which is available

"Fears" by Fi Kenward using Prima's Natures Garden Collection

Here's a look at the entire Prima Nature's Garden line of paper which is also available

"Special Memories" by Nadia Cannizzo using Glitz French Kiss collection:

Nadia used the lovely French Kiss line by Glitz Designs which can be found in the Glitz section of the store.  In addition to the paper we have some of the coordinating embellishments.

We hope you enjoyed a little bit of inspiration from our Design Team!

Leslie Shares a Layout (May Kit Sneak Peek)

This is my little grandson sitting amongst the flowers in front of his daycare facility. I had to pick him up one day and the wildflowers were all in bloom - a perfect photo op! At first, he wasn't too crazy about sitting in the dirt, but he quickly got over it and started playing with the blooms around him.

It was a very hard decision for me to use a black and white photo for this photo as the colors were so gorgeous, but for these papers I really wanted the b&w contrast. I think I'll use the color pic again in a layout for my daughter though, lol.

Today, the new challenge was posted in our Forum.
It's our "Frame" challenge and here are the details:

For this week's challenge, we'd like for you to use a frame on your layout or card. It can be any kind of frame (but placing a mat behind your photo is not the same as a frame). Some examples might be a digital frame on your photo, chipboard frame, wood frame, transparency frame, etc. I hope that gives you some ideas. That's the only requirement. Everything else is up to you.

Here's the fine print:
You may enter 1 layout or card for this challenge

A Sneak Peek at our May Kit by Nadia

"Wonderful Memories" by Nadia Cannizzo

I know the picture in this layout is pretty small and also the people in it are small, but at the top right hand side you can see the name of the hotel we stayed in when we went to Melbourne on a holiday in January. It was a beautiful place and I have written on a journalling card behind the photo some of the lovely things we got to do while staying there.

This pages is a scrap-lift of a page I had made a couple of months ago. I lifted my self, and even though I was pretty close to the original design, the 2 layouts look different. Scrap-lifting your self is a good idea when stuck creatively!

* I used some paper punches here as I think they add so much detail to the layout.
* The Teresa Collins metal photo corners were inked to create a uniform effect once again.
* I added gauze, which I then inked to create more texture and detail
* I used the Prima mask from the embellishment add on, on the right hand side of the layout using brown ink.
* The stitching around the page is faux stitching, which means it is just done with a ruler and black pen.
* Once again I inked the flowers to make them match my colour scheme
