February Sketch Challenge

Welcome to February!  Need a little inspiration?  I think we all do sometimes, and that's why we provide you with a new sketch each month.  Michele Singh has created another beautiful sketch for us.

Let's take a look at how the design team took the sketch and our February Kit, to create a layout.

Lindy Gillespie, our February Guest Designer

Tracey Gregory

Karita Vainio

Sandi Clarkson

Vicky Alberto

Camilla Ekman

Valerie Serfozo

So, are you ready to show us your layout using our February sketch?  We sure hope so.  Our sketch challenge is open to everyone and there are no required products.  You may use one of our kits, but you do not need to be a member of our kit club to participate.  You are welcome to use whatever you have in your scrapbook stash.  Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch, but we do want to look at your layout and tell that you used the sketch.

We will be awarding two prizes.  The winners will be selected by a random draw.  The first prize is this collection of paper, flowers, chipboard, and embellishments.  The winner of the prize package will also be able to shop in the C'est Magnifique Store, and have their purchases sent with the prize package, so that means you won't have to pay for shipping.

Our second prize, a $10 gift certificate to the C'est Magnifique Store,  will be awarded randomly to one of our participants who obviously uses one of our kits to create their Sketch Challenge layout.

We will also chose 5 (or maybe more) layouts to feature on our blog!
You have the entire month of February to submit your layout.

What do you have to do to enter our sketch challenge?

1.  You must be a follower of our blog.  It's easy to become follower -see the left sidebar.

2.  Create a layout using the sketch, and add it to our blog using the Inlinkz tool below.  Please link to the blog post where you have uploaded your layout  (not your general blog address). If you do not have a blog, you may link to an online gallery.

Deadline for entering the sketch challenge is midnight, February 28, 2014 (US time).
Have fun with the sketch.  We can't wait to see how you use it!

Karita´s projects with February kit

Hi all,
Karita here today sharing some sneak peeks what I´ve made with the beautiful February kit.

This first layout is very special to me - me & Frank Garcia.
One of my dreams came true when I took two of his classes last October in Stockholm.
I wanted to fill this layout with lots of layers and other details by stamping, using, gesso, modelling paste and different embellishments.

For this layout I have used the February main kit, the Flower add-on, the Embellishment add-on and the Magnifique Mixed Media kit.
From my stash: stamp, gesso, modelling paste and mists

This is the layout that I wanted to keep quite simple and light coloured.
Only few bigger embellishments and lots of different textures from the Magnifique mixed media kit.

For this layout I`ve used the February main kit, the Embellishment add-on, the Flower add-on and the Magnifique Mixed Media kit.
From my stash: gesso, mist and border punch

My third layout is a total color splash - and I love it!
I totally fell in love these black papers, so fun to play with!
First I added some gesso and then all kinds of colour mediums from the kit.

For this layout I`ve used the February main kit, the Flower add-on, the Embellishment add-on and the Magnifique Mixed Media kit.
From my stash: gesso, twine and toothpick

And last but not least a few cards.

I just love those big red flowers from Prima.

For these cards I have used the February main kit, the Flower add-on and the Embellishment add-on.

Be sure to come back on the January 30th when the whole kit will be revealed!
Wishing you a wonderful week!

The February MMM Kit w/Erin Blegen

Good morning!

I'm so excited that I can finally share with you my first project using the {SOLD OUT} February Magnifique Mixed Media Kit! It's such a joy putting these together each month, and just as much so creating with them.

Today I have a special canvas to share with you; a reminder to myself to cultivate the fruits of the spirit. For me, visual reminders are a must and creating something about which I feel passionate makes for a great project. I really loved putting this together :)

"Fruits of the Spirit" Canvas
This kit had so many fun things to choose from, and the color palette is simply awesome :)

I used book pages to create the distressed, torn layers like you see on the bottom of the canvas here. I highlighted them with the Magenta Shimmerz and Pink Azalea Twinkling H20's.

The fussy cut flowers were trimmed from one of the Prima Paintables cards.

My title was cut from one of the Prima Chalkboard cards, with details cut from the We R Memory Keepers cards and the backdrop from one of the Manor House Creations papers included in the main kit. Underneath you can see just a hint of the Pink Azalea Twinkling H2O's. I've added jute twine and gold thread from my stash.

Fussy cut butterfly courtesy the Prima Paintables.

I've used the KaiserCraft clear stamp along with some distress ink and stamped it randomly throughout my canvas.

Finally, the Splash of Color Modeling Cream and ColorBox stencil worked together to add some beautiful detail. The Ranger "Scattered Straw" Distress Paint was easy to dab on for additional color.

Here's another look at the complete February Magnifique Mixed Media Kit:

February Kit Pages with Tracey

Hello,everyone!
Tracey here and I am excited to show you my pages from the romantic February kit featuring the new paper line from Manor House!

With my first page,I kept the monochromatic scheme and wanted to show the classic side of the kit.My daughter, Naomi has a Black and Tiffany Blue bedroom and stole this away from my scrapdesk as soon as it dried..

I used gesso and a script stamp on the black paper and the Blue Fern chippie.I love how the cool greys and blues create a sense of sophistication to the page.

For my second page,I wanted to show the warm side of the kit:

Using Distress inks and Lindy's Starburst ink in Steampunk Sepia,I warmed up the background. I added some texture paste and stencils that mimicked the paper pattern and misted some more.

I gessoed and embossed the Blue Fern Flourish and added a small amount of twine from stash behind the flowers. The pic is my niece,Vivien as she makes her own little way in the woods..

For layout #3,I broke out all my mixed media toys..

First,I shaded the paper using Distress inks of grey, blue and pink and more Lindy's Stamp gang mists. I used texture paste and a large Prima stencil for the background. I distressed my edges and tucked in some lace and twine from my stash. My mat was embossed and shaded with Distress ink. The gates were also gessoed and highlighted with a Viva pearl pen.

I love the pretty resin pieces in the kit and all the lovely white Prima blooms that make this layout feel light and airy. Yes,that's Vivi again..

For page #4, I went with traditional Valentine's colors, even though I struggle with reds for some reason..

The kit comes with Sno-Tex,which was perfect for my daughter's November Homecoming Dance. I sprinkled Diamond Dust while it was still wet and it has a magical sparkly look in real life. The red cardstock is from my stash.

The butterflies are courtesy of Lisa Gregory and were hit with Burgundy Stickles. There are lots of cute ephemera and little envelopes that are perfect for mats and tucking in clusters.

So there you have it..4 completely different looks from this fabulous February kit!

I still have one more page to reveal on sketch day..and stay tuned for our full kit reveal on January 30!
