Our April Sketch Challenge

Hi blog readers, and welcome to April!  We would like to start your month with some new inspiration in the form of a sketch.  Using a sketch is such a great way to start a layout.  Our April sketch was created exclusively for C'est Magnifique Kits by Michele Singh.

Take a look at how our Design Team used this sketch as inspiration for a layout using the April Kit, A Touch of Refinement:

Bonnie Friesen

Camilla Ekman

Kim Price

Ulrika Blomfelt

Vicky Alberto

Valerie Serfozo

We would love to see YOU use our sketch as inspiration for a layout.  We have very few rules for our Sketch Challenge........as a matter of fact, we have just one rule.......we want your layout to resemble the sketch.  Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch, but we do want to look at your layout and be able to see that you used the sketch.  Other than that, you are free to use anything you have in your personal stash, and we welcome all styles of scrapbooking.

We will award two prizes for this sketch challenge.  The first prize is this collection of paper, flowers, chipboard, lace and embellishments.  The winner of the prize package will also be able to shop in the C'est Magnifique Store, and have their purchases sent with the prize package, so that means you won't have to pay for shipping.  Here is this month's prize:

Our second prize, a $10 gift certificate to the C'est Magnifique Store,  will be awarded randomly to one of our participants who obviously uses one of our kits to create their Sketch Challenge layout.
We will also chose 5 (or maybe more) layouts to feature on our blog!
You have the entire month of April to submit your layout.

What do you have to do to enter our sketch challenge?

1.  You must be a follower of our blog.  It's easy to become follower -see the left sidebar.

2.  Create a layout using the sketch, and add it to our blog using the Inlinkz tool below.  Please link to the blog post where you have uploaded your layout  (not your general blog address). If you do not have a blog, you may link to an online gallery.

Deadline for entering the sketch challenge is midnight, April 30, 2014 (US time).
Have fun with the sketch.  We can't wait to see how you use it!

Please enter a link to the blog post where your sketch layout is posted (not the address of your blog).  Also provide your first and last name.  You will be asked to enter your e-mail address, but it will not be published.

Valerie's Take on the April Kit

Welcome to the weekend!  I hope yours is off to great start.  Tomorrow we will be revealing our April Kit, but before that, I'd like to share a couple of layouts that I created using the kit.

I was pleased to read in Bonnie's post that she felt liberated when she discovered that "purple" really is not difficult to use.  Purple tends to get a bad rap when it comes to scrapbooking.  The April Kit has some amazing shades of dark purple that will work will with any style of scrapbooking.  But this kit is not just shades of purple..... you have probably noticed from the other designers, there are several different looks that can be achieved with this kit.

For this layout, I used the beautiful Blue Fern Studios Small Circle Flourish frame that was in the Embellishment Add-on.  I also used several items from the Magnifique Mixed Media kit to create this look.  For the dark color accents, I used the Art Anthology Sorbet and a stencil, both found in the MMM kit (which has sold out).

The beautiful blue tones in this paper collection are perfect with the various shades of brown.  They compliment each other so well.  The center of the paper is open to create your own background or leave it as is.

Be sure to visit us again tomorrow to see photos of our entire April Kit!

Sneak Peeks with Bonnie!

Hi! Bonnie blogging here today! I am so excited to be able to share with you some of the layouts I created with the AWESOME April Kit! I have always been intimidated scrapping with the color purple because I thought that the shades had to match exactly, and I learned that that was just not true! Such freedom! The April kit just blew my socks off and liberated me at the same time. I just KNOW you will love working with this kit!

My first layout I want to share is about me. I don't often scrap pictures of myself, but sometimes its just necessary! I love this photo that was taken in Novemeber during a mini photo shoot our family had. Just look how good the purple of my jacket went with the kit! Who knew? lol  I just love the Blue Fern Studios circle frame chippie that came in the Embellishment add on, and I used all the cool products from the MMM Kit to colorize it.

To create this layout, I used the Main Kit. the Flower Add on, the Embellishment Add on, and the MMM Kit. From my stash I used: stencil, light molding paste, gesso, Archival ink, distress ink, stamp, cardstock, black marker.

The next 2 projects I am sharing with you, as well as the last 2 later on are featuring 4 beautiful sisters! This one is featuring Madden[Maddy] who is the oldest of the bunch. She is so photogenic! I wanted to do something a little different and decided to use a clipboard for the base of my layout! I wanted to do something really funky and fun using alot of the mixed media elements of the MMM Kit! I painted the base with the purple and blue paints, and then did a white crackle finish over it. I missed some areas so the base colors could come through more. I then proceeded to go crazy using the mask from the MMM kit and paints, and light molding paste and gesso. I then did some stamping. I changed the color color of the blue rose from the Flower Add on, painting it purple. I cut the Blue Fern Chippie from the Main Kit in half and used it in a funky way.

To create this unique layout I used the Main Kit, the Flower Add on, the Embellishment Add on, and the MMM Kit From my stash I used: stencil, light molding paste, Archival ink, stamp, leaves,

My last layout for today features Blaine, she is number 3 on the totem pole! She is shy and quiet, as she has 2 older sisters to do the talking for her! I wanted this layout to be fun and young and cute, just like Blaine. I used a number of border punches, and kept this more traditional then way out there. Some mixed media, but not too much. There are SO MANY flowers with this kit and the add ons, and I made good use of them on ALL my layouts! Yummy! Here again, I changed some of the blue roses in the Flower Add on, using some of the paints from the MMM Kit.

To create this layout, I used the Main Kit, the Flower Add on, the Embellishment Add on, and the MMM Kit. From my stash I used: stencils, light molding paste, gesso, Archival Ink,Distress Ink, stamps, cheese cloth.

Close Ups:

I hope you enjoyed what I had to share with you today! I will be back on March 30 th and April 1st to share my final 2 layouts with you! Thanks for stopping by!

Be Blessed!

Layouts with April Kit By Ulrika!

It´s time for me to show you my first three pages I have created with the amazing April kit! I´m totally in love with this kit because you can get so many styles with it. I think you will find my three layouts very different from each other. Lot of pics here but I want you all to see how fab all of the supplies looks!

My first one is about my boy when he was a baby. Cuuute!
I used a brown and blue color scheme that I find very wam and nice. I cut my circle chipboard in two pieces and used the beautiful blue Embossing powder on it.

I have used supplies from the Main kit, Flower Add-on Kit, Embellie Add-on and the Mixed-media kit.
From my own stash I used a die and a edge punch.

Over to a whole different look! Here I worked with strong colors and cool contrastas.
I added the black to the purple to get a little bit more masculine look. For my background I used a Stencil from the kit together with Art-Anthology Dimensional paint. The letters, chipboards and Resin frame I painted in black. The wood chain is painted with Shimmerz from the Embellie kit.

I have used supplies from the Main Kit, Flower Add-on, Embellie Add-on and the Mixed-media kit.
From my own stash I used black acrylic paint, bubble wrapping and Mesh (to stamp with).

For my third page I have yet another look. For my background I sprayed with the mist from Lindys Stamp Gang. I let it run a bit. I also splashed over my page with Shimmerz. Around the edges I used my fingers and Inka Gold from the Mixed-media kit. To get more contrasts on my paper strips I used a black pen and also sonme of the Inka Gold.

For my last project I used the Main Kit, Embellie Add-on and the Mixed-media kit.
From my own stash I used a black pen and nothing more.

Hope you have enjoyed my work and got inspired!
Hugs from Ulrika!

A Peek @ The New April Kit by Kim Price

I'm really excited today to be sharing a peak at what I have been doing with the brand new April C'est Magnifique kits. I thought I would start by sharing a layout I created in a vintage style with a more modern twist, simply titled "dad".

I started out with a 12x12 plain chipboard base coated in gesso, adding color and texture with the mist which comes in this month's Magnifique Mixed Media kit. I've then added some luscious layers of patterned paper and embellishments available in the main kit and embellishment add-on.

I've used the main kit, flower add-on, embellishment add-on and the Magnifique Mixed Media kit on the layout.
From my own stash: 12x12 chipboard, gesso

Here is a closer look at some of the detail - I've added a gorgeous touch of gold to the chipboard flourish, mantle resin  and around the edges of my layout which really adds so much to the vintage feel.

A closer look at the paper layers and background work. I've also painted my chipboard letters with the same mist as used in my background to further add to the watercolor effect I was going for. I love the hint of purple showing through.

For my second layout I went for a softer, more romantic feel using the aqua/green shades in the kit along with a treasured baby photo of myself. Those butterfly resins really add so much to the finished look.

I've used the main kit, embellishment add-on and Magnifique Mixed Media kits to create this layout.
From my own stash: heavy white cardstock, gesso, embossing medium

I've painted my wooden borders with gesso and layered them behind my design to create subtle texture that doesn't overpower. And, oh my, those flowers are so beautiful.

Sometimes I like to include less obvious elements such as the packaging I've tucked in behind my paper layers. I loved the design and color so why not use it? It works perfectly with this color way.

I've also used the stencil from the Magnifique Mixed Media kit both in a traditional way and then as a stamp - both times with the pale blue embossing enamel which also comes in this kit just for a little extra color and texture.

Thanks for dropping by - hope you enjoyed my little preview! Lots more inspiration coming up over the coming weeks.
