Deonna's October Kit Layout Tutorial

Hi! Deonna here today sharing a layout tutorial that I created using the October Kit, which features the beautiful Prima Garden Fable collection. I used the Main Kit, Flower Add-On and Embellishment Add-On to create this page.

Step 1. Cover the entire paper with gesso.

Step 2. Cut the green rectangles from the piece of Garden Fable "Blushing" patterned paper.

Step 3. Water down green Tim Holtz Distress Stain and brush it over the page.

Step 4. Distress the edges of the cut out green rectangles.

Step 5. Ink the edges of the distressed papers with green Distress Stain.

Step 6. Spritz the inked papers water to spread the color.

Step 7. Emboss the edges of the papers with an iridescent blue embossing powder.

Step 8. Ink and emboss several pieces of chipboard ephemera from the Prima Debutante Chipboard and More package of embellishments (Embellishment Add-On).

Step 9. Ink the petals of flowers (Flower Add-On), dip in embossing powder, and heat set.

Step 10. Ink and emboss the resin fairy from the Main Kit.

Step 11. Emboss several of the Garden Fable Wood Icons (Embellishment Add-On).

Step 12. Dilute green Tim Holtz Distress Stain, brush onto the background paper, and let it roll off the paper. While the ink is still wet, add embossing powder and heat set.

Step 13. Assemble the layout. Use a paintbrush to add diluted Distress Stain to select areas of the layout.

Here's some close-up photos of the embossed page elements. The embossing powder really catches the light, adding a fantastic shimmer to my layout.

Using the same process as above, I also created this blue layout.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope I have inspired you! The October Add-Ons, the Mixed Media Kit and the Card Kit are available for purchase now from the C'est Magnifique Store. The October Main Kit will be on sale on September 30th.

Deonna's September Kit Projects

Hi C'est Magnifique fans! Deonna here today sharing the projects that I created with the September kits. The Cocoa Vanilla Studio Hello Lovely collection is so fun to work with because of its versatility. The mix of stripes, polka dots, wood grain, and floral prints are perfect for both highly embellished and clean and simple designs. I have a shabby chic layout, a simple double-page spread and a mini album to share today.

I distressed the edges of the patterned papers on this page for a shabby feel. I then softened the edges of the papers by brushing them with the C'est Magnifique Pale Peacock Paint from the Mixed Media Kit. I finished the page by framing the photo with a mix of blooms from the Flower Add-On.

This double-page layout is more simple in design, but still beautiful! I used patterned paper from the Main Kit and matching cardstock from my personal supplies to build photo mats.

I inked the edges of the patterned papers and stamped a sentiment with the Prima White Fluid Chalk Inker from the Mixed Media Kit. I created the button embellishment with patterned paper and Flair from the Embellishment Add-On.

I finished this spread with the large White Feather Butterfly from the Flower Add-On. This double-page layout is ready for pictures! If you like a more embellished page, our Main Kit and our Embellishment and Flower Add-Ons contain plenty of goodies to dress up your designs!

Lastly, I created a mini album from envelopes, patterned paper, stickers, ribbon and handmade tags.

The pull-out tags allow for plenty of journaling. The small flowers, butterflies and bows from the Embellishment Add-On and Flower Add-On are the perfect size for adding a bit of flair to the album pages.

Second Chance Saturday with Deonna - Patriotic Star-Shaped Box

Hi! Deonna here today sharing a patriotic paper mache box that I created with the fantastic July Kits

Personal Supplies: Star-Shaped Box, Star-Shaped Drawer Pull, White Ink

I tore pieces of the Tim Holtz Correspondence paper into small pieces and sealed them to the outside of the box in a random fashion. I brushed the die-cuts and edges of the box with white ink.

The Dark Green Wood Shavings from the Mixed Media Kit were a great filler for the inside of the box.

I had a lot of fun embellishing the box kit with flowers and ribbon from the kit. I used the red ribbon and denim strips from the kits to create my own rolled fabric roses.

I hope you have enjoyed my project! The July Kits are available for purchase in the C'est Magnifique Store while supplies last.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Deonna's July Kit Layout

Hi! Deonna here today sharing the layout I created with the C'est Magnfique July Kits. I had a blast working with the Tim Holtz Correspondence collection and the C'est Magnifique denim trim. I used items from the Main Kit, Flower Add-On, Embellishment Add-On and Mixed Media Kit for this page.

I added color and pattern to the background of my page using the stencil, mist, paint and Liquid Pearls from the Mixed Media Kit.

Once the paint was dry, I distressed the edges and right corner of the page. I added denim trim to the largest torn area for some fun dimension.

I built a photo mat from layers of distressed patterned paper, cardboard and denim.

I finished the page with blooms from the Flower Add-On.

Deonna's May Kit Layout

Hi C'est Magnifique fans! Deonna here today sharing the layout I created with the May Main Kit, May Flower and Embellishment Add-Ons and the May Magnifique Mixed Media Kit. I have to say that I absolutely love this kit! There are 32 pieces of patterned paper in this kit and they are all different. The mix of floral prints, dots, stripes and doilies in a colorful palette was super fun to work with. If you're an artist that likes to color with the entire box of crayons, this kit is for you!

I looped the multicolored floss onto the back of a punched piece of patterned paper to create an interesting border.

I built up layers of punched papers and die-cuts from the Embellishment Add-On under my photo.

I inked the Blue Fern Studios Deco Shelf Chipboard with the Clearsnap Colorbox Shy Blue Pigment Brush Pad and then sealed it with the Clear Wow! Embossing Powder.

I added a flower cluster and bow to finish the page.

I hope I have inspired you! Thanks so much for stopping by today! The May Kit and Add-Ons and the Mixed Media Kit are available for purchase now from the C'est Magnifique Store. If you can find some extra time this month, we'd love to have you join our May Sketch Challenge!

Trash to Treasure Tuesday with Deonna

Hi C'est Magnifique fans! Deonna here today sharing a "trash to treasure" project tutorial. I had a lot of fun upcycling a ceramic bird with patterned papers and embellishments that I had leftover from the November Kit.

Step One: Bend a twist tie into a loop and secure to the top of the bird to create a hook for hanging.

Step Two: Mix white PVA glue with water.

Step Three: Tear patterned paper into small strips and saturate with the glue solution.

Step Four: Add pieces of patterned paper to the bird until completely covered. Let Dry.

Step Five: Paint the twist tie with acrylic paint.

Step Six: Seal the bird with a clear coat of glaze.

Step Seven: Glue feathers to the tail.

Step Eight: Add twine bows to the tail.

I finished the bird with some pastel roses and hand-drawn eyes.

Thanks for stopping by today!
