Guest Designer Rhonda Van Ginkel - Part II with the September Card Kit

Greetings, it's Rhonda Van Ginkel back with you today to host the blog as a Guest Designer with Part II of my September projects. I am featuring designs using the C'est Magnifique September 2015 Card Kit.

"This Life is Pretty Wonderful" (12x12 Page)

I love the elements in the Card Kit so much, I also had a few extra goodies to include from the Embellishment Add-On Kit as well as the black flower from the Flower Add-On September 2015 Kit. I started this page inspired by the green card base which I used to mat my photo collage, along with some simple black cardstock.

I loved the idea of mixing this strong chevron design with some florals. I used a sheet of kraft card stock from home, then used crackle modeling paste and a stencil. I added the small gold glitter paste stars using a stencil. You will also see a few wood veneer stars mixed in which I lightly touched with Gold Glimmer Spray to blend in.

Some Gelatos were used in 4 different colors, and just smeared in to blend. After that, I sprinkled drops of Glimmer Spray about in coordinating colors to the pattern papers. I stamped using some of my BoBunny stamps and black ink.

The blue banner and pink arrow and sequin elements are from the Embellishment Add On Kit. I added the string and pearl along with the ink for coloring the "Hello" speech bubble. The partial tag I cut using a simple tag die.

"Hello Sunshine" Tag

For my next project, I created a tag to fit the cute pink polka dot envelope that comes in the kit. I've used the Prima Doll Stamp included in the kit as my focal point. She is colored with Copics and paper pieced.

I've used a scrap from one of my first projects on this. In the background you should see a frame and behind it I've backed it with the black and white ampersand. This was a really fun project to do, I love using these doll stamps, the possibilities are endless!

I added some Diamond Stickles to accent the bodice florals as well as the top of the skirt. The paper piecing that I did with her hair is from a woodgrain pattern paper included in the kit. I highlighted some of the hair design with my marker.

The headband, bodice and florals on her shoes all coordinate to the same patterned paper. To accent the headband, I added a single sequin and an Enamel Dot.

Here's the coordinating envelope. I added a few simple touches and love how it fits perfectly!

For this project I used a Prima Tag Pad from my own collection of items for the base, then added other papers and embellishments to it.

"Hello" (A2 sized card)

This card showcases another one of the beautiful designed card bases included in the kit. I decided to layer over the florals lightly with a few other pieces.

The "Hello" sentiment flag was cut from the pattern papers in the kit. I cut one of the vellum hearts in half and used for "leaves" under the flower cluster on the left. To create this look, I used a few of my dies and my die cutting machine.

Guest Designer Rhonda Van Ginkel - September Card Kit

Greetings, it's Rhonda Van Ginkel here to host the blog for you today.  I am honored to Guest Design for C'est Magnifique Kit Club again and this time to feature designs using the C'est Magnifique September 2015 Card Kit.

"Love This"

For my first card, I loved the pretty card bases that are included in the kit and wanted to feature this pretty soft rose first.

I used the pretty colors in the Authentique Classique paper to compliment the pink and framed it with some filmstrip die cuts using black cardstock from my stash.

I've used the pretty sequins and enamel dots here from the Embellishment Add-On for September Kit. The stamping on the background was done with a stamp from my personal collection.

"Life's a party, Enjoy it"

For my next card, I wanted to feature the pretty wooden frame that is included with the kit. I've paired it with a Pink Paislee gray flower from the Flower Add-On September 2015 Kit.

Don't you just love the sentiment? I thought it was so cute! I added the metal arrow from the Embellishment Add-On for September Kit.

"Just Lovely"

This card was inspired by the card base design, it is so cute all on its own. I didn't want to cover the design, but chose to accent it and build on it.

I did a die-cut from the patterned paper, then added some embellishments from the Embellishment Add-On Kit; Die-Cuts, Wooden Pieces and Arrow.

"Happy Day... these are the moments to remember forever"

For this card, again I've used one of the cute card bases included in the kit. I paired it with some of the pale pink cardstock and used one of the sentiment blocks from the patterned papers included in the kit.

Guest Designer Rhonda Van Ginkel - Part II

Saturday greetings to you! It's Rhonda Van Ginkel here today to host the blog for you and share my second set of projects with the C'est Magnifique August 2015 Card Kit.

"Thank You" (5.25" x 8.50" Tag)

For my first project I wanted to create a tag or a card to fit the 5.75"x8.75" Off-White Envelope that comes with the kit. You get three. The design here includes a small open edge pocket on the bottom that you could tuck a gift card into - perfect for thanking that new teacher for your child.

I've used the pretty coordinating "Thank You" sentiment stamp here with some fussy cut flowers and bird from the pattern papers. A few layers of delicate doily die-cuts provided the perfect perching spot for my bird. The pink and orange flower in the left corner was created using white cardstock, then colored to coordinate with the color scheme using watercolor pencils.

I liked the idea that this can be put up on a bulletin board on display for a teacher's room as a reminder of our appreciation.

One of the really fun items in this kit is the sentiment ribbon, it's sweet and versatile. My roll is red on white, so I took some Antique Linen chalk ink and tinted to match my cream card stock. This fits the 4.375"x5.75" Cream Envelope provided in the kit.

I love the elegant finish of the papers and used the bright vibrant floral paper here for the floral die-cut and let it be the focal point with the sentiment.

"Love and Wishes" (A2 sized card)

For my final project I chose to combine the elegant finish paper with a kraft card stock base that I first spritzed with water, then added a bit of Colorburst in Orange, Lemon Yellow and Crimson. It coordinated so nicely in combination with the papers in this kit!

The butterflies are so gorgeous, I had to cut a few of them out. The sentiment here is another from the kit. So so versatile! A few cattails and reeds in plain kraft paper provided a bit of scenery. You can also see how the pattern papers also make gorgeous florals too.

August Card Kit Projects by Guest Designer Rhonda Van Ginkel

Greetings to you!  It's Rhonda Van Ginkel here with you today as a Guest Designer featuring some card and tag projects created with the C'est Magnifiique August 2015 Card Kit.

"Garden Trellis" (3"x 6")

I used a 6x6 piece of solid card stock from my stash, then folded in half for my base. It coordinated so nicely with the Bohemian papers by Dovecraft that are in the kit. I actually used the cover sheet of the paper pad and cut out a part of it for my first layer behind the trellis on the left.

Those shaped buttons coordinate perfectly and added so much character to the card! This card is made to fit into the smallest envelopes (6 1/8" x 3 1/2") included in the kit. The next several projects were made specifically for these envelopes.

"Lovebirds Tag" (3.5" x 6")

I started this by die cutting a tag from a cereal box, then cut the base paper and covered the printed side of the cereal box so that the back that shows is just plain kraft. The edges are inked, then using some stamps and items from my stash, I stamped designs in black and added a bit more texture using a stencil and glitter paste.

I spent some down time cutting out the birds and florals and had such a good time layering and collaging them into a lovebird design.  A little bit of vellum from my stash and the stripes and grid paper designs from the paper stack were a lovely contrast to the florals here.

"Thank You" (3" x 6")

For this card, I wanted to use the striped glitter paper for the background. I thought it would be interesting to contrast with softer elements like a doily, cheesecloth and decorative corners. The sweet Mini Satin Bows and the coordinating Adhesive Gems and Pearls included in the kit make it a breeze to find that perfect extra touch!

"Lovebird Envelope" (3 1/2" x 6 1/8")

I used the coordinating stamps in the kit to decorate one of the envelopes. I used watercolor pencils to color in the design, then water to blend it. Drops of Glimmer Spray were used as well. I added touches of Stickles to the flowers in the design.

"Enjoy" (A2 Card)

This card was created to coordinate with the cream A2 envelopes in the kit. I used some cream card stock for my base, inked the edges with Antique Linen ink, then added my layers. I used the sentiment stamp from the coordinating stamps for my banner tag.

Guest Designer Rhonda Van Ginkel

Greetings to you!  It's Rhonda Van Ginkel here again to host the blog for you today as a Guest Designer featuring projects created from the oh so beautiful June Kit.

My first project is a page that I created that features the sentiment from the pretty Blue Fern Studios "Déjà Vu" paper, Petites Cartes. I also used the Blue Fern Studios Déjà Vu Dangles chipboard here,  touching it lightly with sage green ink. To anchor it at the top I used the KaiserCraft Pearl Brad included in the kit.

I used some of the Prima acetate packaging as part of my design as well as the pretty Frost Gypsy Rose in yellow and grey. The grey flower, I pulled the outer leaves off to use a smaller bud for the design.

The larger daisy and smaller scrunched rose are cut using some dies in my stash along with the leaves, flourishes, bird on a branch, scalloped cove rectangle, notebook paper layer and banner. Other florals are fussy cut from the paper.

My next project is a card that I tried to create with a masculine appeal to it with several fussy cut elements from the papers. Even though it has a bit of floral elements, it felt masculine to me with the bird envelope. This card uses the Prima packaging as a background layer over the top of the pattern paper.

The transition line for the acetate is disguised by the lacy border die cut, then the other elements are collaged under the sentiment block. The sentiment is from a set by My Favorite Things.

Non-kit items used here include: Stickles, Enamel Dots, Prima Say It In Crystals Center and Dies.

For my final project, I went with a vintage romantic theme and again cut out some of my favorite elements from the papers. I created a tent fold card base from Kraft card stock, then rounded the corners on the top.  After layering my first two layers on top, I stitched around the card.

I added the smaller scalloped rectangle die cut behind the lacy rectangle die cut, and then layered the sentiment on top after cutting it from a smaller scalloped rectangular die to keep the soft and round elements continuing.

I used a scalloped lacy trim across the bottom and finished it with my purple ribbon that I softened with a bit of gesso. Next, I cut the floral cluster out, then lady on the swing out and arranged them around the design, adhering with foam squares. The final step was to add the grey Prima Frost Gypsy Rose to the design and ink it lightly with lavender distress ink.

I hope that you've enjoyed my projects today as much as I enjoyed creating them!  Thank you so much to C'est Magnifique Kit Club for inviting me to Guest Design for you, it was so much fun!!!

Guest Designer Rhonda Van Ginkel

Greetings to you from Minnesota! It's Rhonda Van Ginkel here today to host the blog as a Guest Designer for C'est Magnifique Kit Club this month. I reside in the Twin Cities area with my dear husband, and our 2 busy boys. You’ll find them in much of my scrapbooking adventures and as silly as they are, they offer some fine material to work with. Rounding out the family circus is our little dog, Radar.

The discovery of scrapbooking for me was after the birth of our youngest. A friend invited me to a crop to get out and said “Just bring your photos, you can organize those and we can visit.” Perfect, right? That night I got all my pictures sorted and what a great accomplishment! After, I looked around and took notice of what they were doing. In that moment I knew I wanted this for my children. I really wanted for them to have a book of their own that told their story in my own words and with my loving touch. My work has been published in Scrapbooks Etc., Cricut Magazine, Cricut Families Idea Book, Scrapbooking News and Review and several online galleries.

The June Kit is just beautiful and I had so much fun creating the projects that I am sharing with you today!

My first card showcases the pretty Maya Road Scallop Trim in Antique Pink along with the Prima Gypsy Roses in Frost. The Blue Fern Studios Déjà Vu papers are so very pretty I used some of my lacy dies to create this first card.

I just love the vintage image and used it for my focal point.

My next card makes use of the sentiment banner from the Blue Fern Studios Déjà Vu Petites Cartes paper included in the kit. I've included some fussy cutting on this along with the Prima Rebecca Mini Bouquet.

The flower that I've die-cut from the papers is accented with the C'est Magnifique Fairy Frost Glitter in the center. A few other accents on the other flowers on the card have it also. I've cut the leaves apart and tucked them in behind my flower and banner to add a pop of pretty green.

I wanted to create a masculine card for some Father's Day inspiration and this was my end result. I added some gesso to the ribbon to soften the color and give it a shabby chic appearance. While I had it out I also coated the Blue Fern Studios Déjà Vu Dangles and then touched it lightly with sage green and lavender inks.

The Prima Alphablends Cardstock and Chipboard Alphabet Stickers in yellow were used for my sentiment here, and I outlined them with a black journaling pen.

For my last card, I went a little bit more simple in the design, just letting the beauty of the papers shine.  I again used the sentiment paper from the Blue Fern Studios Déjà Vu Petites Cartes sheet, and collaged with some fussy cut elements.

I added one die-cut element which I cut apart. I then used the relief of my die-cut as part of the monochromatic design on the left. I think this would make a very romantic wedding or anniversary card.  A bit of zigzag stitching finished the card.

For my final project for this post today, I created a sweet little gift box using the Paper House Colorways Seek Beauty Rub-On Transfers for my sentiment banner. I added a floral collage on top of a pretty doily die-cut to complete the decorations. The grey flower is ready to add from the kit and the others are cut from floral dies I have.

Designer's Tip:
After creating the box, I flip mine upside down so the tabs to open it are on the bottom, that way the decor on the top stays in place and your box can be re-purposed if desired.
