Oct 2011 Guest Designers

I am so pleased to announce our October Guest Designers: JJ Sobey and Lisa Duke!! Lisa has a beautiful, soft, romantic style to her layouts while JJ has a more bold, colorful and fun style. I am so anxious to see what both of these women bring to our Oct kit - I am sure we will all be awed!

In the meantime though, here is a short bio of each of them:

JJ has been crafting in one form or another since she was big enough to hold a crayon. She resisted scrapbooking and papercrafting for many years because she knew just how addictive it would be – no surprise, now she’s hooked. Most of her work revolves around her two young kids, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She is always pleasantly surprised to find out how her previous hobbies of sewing and costume-making really translate over to papercrafts. Her style is often described as eclectic, because she loves to try different things, frequently mixing shabby chic with grunge or freestyle. She has recently started dabbling in mixed media and art journaling.

Besides scrapping, she is also addicted to Starbucks, sushi, and loud rock music.

Hello!! My name is Lisa and I live in the Sierra Foothills with my husband and I'm very lucky to have my kids here also. I have a son and daughter and 2 beautiful grandchildren. I started scrapbooking in 2003 but then got into other things (daughter was very busy with different programs), but for the last 2 years I have been scrapping nearly everyday. I love all the different styles but have to say the Shabby Chic style is my fav. I try and scrap in this style most of the time but I also LOVE ink and may apply too much for the shabby look!!!

I am so honored to be a guest designer for C'est Magnifique. This is my first GDT spot so I am really excited.

Challenge Updates

First of all, we'd like to congratulate the winners of our last two challenges at C'est Magnifique:

Aggie was the winner of our 5,4,3,2,1 challenge with her layout titled "Precious", created using the August kit. She used a beautiful vintage photo of her mother as a child.

Sarah let us in on a few of her pet peeves and was the winner of our Pet Peeves challenge with her "My Pet Peeves" layout, which includes a great photo of Sarah.

And we currently have two challenges going on right now. The "Ad Challenge" runs through midnight next Sunday, and this week's challenge is a "Basic Grey Challenge". If you've got Basic Grey, we want you to use it! The details for both challenges can be found in the September Challenges section of our forum.

These challenges are open to everyone, and it's very easy to join in. Simply visit the C'est Magnifique Kits website, set up an account, and join us in the forum. We'd love to have you!

This Week's Challenge

This week, we're going to ask you to vent! Scrap your biggest pet peeve! Really focus on it and create something that tells us how you really feel about it. Toilet seats left up? Rude drivers or people who cut in line? Your favorite teen or (older) using the word "like" every three words in a sentence? Maybe it's something that your friends say doesn't bother them but it drives you crazy....We want to see!

We will continue to post a challenge each week, but you will now have 2 weeks to complete each challenge! You will have until midnight EST (New York City time zone) Sunday, Sept. 25th to complete your project.

Please upload your submission to the September "Pet Peeve" folder in the gallery and be sure to also post it here in our forum. The winner, chosen by the design team, will be announced on the Blog and will receive a RAK from C'est Magnifique!

A Few More DT Layouts!

I just wanted to share a few more fabulously awesome DT layouts tonight. I honestly have the best DT in the world and one of our guest designers - Laurie - really rocked the kit as well. Unfortunately Libby got sick and has been unable to do any projects to date. Get well soon, Lib!!

Anyway, here are a few more:

Do I not have an awesome design team?!!

A New Challenge

Thanks so much to JJ Sobey for suggesting this week's challenge! The idea behind this challenge is to use 5 of one type of thing, 4 of another, etc. Be sure to let us know what you used for each of these numbers.

5 letters in your title wouldn't count, but 5 different types of letter stickers would.........4 people in your photo wouldn't count, but using 4 photos would.........3 colors in your patterned paper wouldn't count, but using 3 different patterned papers would.........get it?

We will continue to post a challenge each week, but you will now have 2 weeks to complete each challenge! You will have until midnight EST (New York City time zone) Sunday, Sept. 18th to complete your project. Please upload it to the September "5,4,3,2,1" folder in our Gallery and be sure to also post it in our Forum in THIS post, so we can all see it. The winner, chosen by the design team, will be announced here and on the Blog and will receive a RAK from C'est Magnifique!

Guest Designers

I have to say that this was one TOUGH decision! We received so many submissions and because they were all spectacular, it was very hard to narrow it down! And because I just couldn't pick only one person, I did decide to fill the guest spots for the next three months. So...here they are...

October
Lisa Duke
JJ Sobey

November
Sarah Hill
Malin Dahlström

December
Kay Fatula
Raissa Costa

More information on our guest designers will be available during the month they are active with C'est Magnifique.

Congratulations, girls!!!!

I do want to quickly thank everyone for applying! If you didn't snag a spot this time, please apply again! We will never duplicate anyone and I do want to reiterate that this really was a very difficult decision.
