Meet Our January Guest Designer

We are so pleased to have Gerry Van Gent join us as our guest designer using the January Kit, "Flights of Fancy".  We'd like for you to get to know Gerry and take a look at a couple of amazing layouts she created!   We all love her style, and I'm sure you will, too.

My name is Gerry van Gent and I`m a 39 Bulgarian woman living in The Netherlands. I`m a mom of two kids and a wife of a very supportive hubby. I`m lucky to be able to stay at home and have plenty of time to spend with my kids and of course I have plenty of time for my hobbies - scrapbooking and photography.

I got involved into paper crafting when my first child was born and I`m completely hooked. Love creating my own backgrounds, stamping, playing with paint, fussy cutting and hand-stitching on my work.

I currently design for Webster`s Pages, Prima Marketing, Glitz Design and Imaginarium Designs. I`m also contributor for Sizzix Europe.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to work with your kits and for having me as a guest-designer this month!

"Dream" by Gerry Van Gent

A photo of my son having a rest ;-) on a bench in Walt Disney, Paris.
I created here my own frame for the photo. I fussy cut parts of the pattern paper and surrounded the photo.  The chipboard clock was cut into two parts.

"School Photo" by Gerry Van Gent

A Layout created with the gorgeous January 2013 Kit.
I created the texture on the layout by using the Distress Tool from Ingvild Bolme. The title letters were painted with gesso, acrylic paint and Glimmer glam. On this layout I used only half of the Scrap FX chipboard.

Thanks for sharing your lovely style with us Gerry!  We will be posting more layouts from Gerry and the rest of our awesome design team over the next couple of weeks.

It's Beverly's Turn - Peek #5

Our Design Team has created some truly amazing layouts with the January Kit.  Here's how Beverly used this beautiful line of paper (Ruby Rock-it's Mother Nature collection) and the embellishments from the kit and add-ons.

"Dream" by Beverly Sams

A photo taken near the time this couple were married was the inspiration for this layout. I chose to bring out the golds and pinks of the hair and skin with the beautiful flowers from Prima and Making Memories.

Sneak Peek #4 from Erin

We hope you're enjoying the sneak peeks we've been giving you this week.  We still have a couple more of them to show you, leading up to our Reveal on the 26th.  You're sure to love this one by our design team member, Erin

"Timeless" by Erin Blegen

Okay, so I threw a little bit of a "scrappy tantrum" with this one. I was struggling with what I wanted to accomplish, then I screwed up, and then I just lost all control, lol! So I just made an angry, careless mess and after calming down a bit, came back and finished what turned out to be a feminine, sweet layout backed by a little bit of grunge due to my tumultuous creative process! In the end, I feel okay...but it was quite the adventure getting there! Isn't that how it works sometimes?

Peek #3

Hi everyone!  I actually had a little time today to create something.  It felt wonderful to take some time for myself during the rush of getting ready for Christmas.  Have you been able to slip away for some personal time this week?  I sure hope so.

Today it's my turn to share with you a layout that I created using the January Kit

"Out for a Walk" by Valerie Serfozo
The shades of blue in this paper are wonderful! Even though there are birds and butterflies on some sheets of paper, I thought of winter. I used white mist, gesso, and Snow-Tex to add a frosty look to the layout. This is my granddaughter Eryn, out for a walk on a winter day, with our little dog, Kiefer.

"She is Perfect" by Camilla Ekman

Little babies are perfect. Just look at this beauty! My little niece in the arms of her mother. Even though I have scrapped about a girl, I chose these soft blue colours together with the lovely pale yellow in the January kit.

Our January Paper and Add-ons

It's that time again!  Time for us to give you a look at the paper we will be featuring in our
first kit of 2013 and to give you a chance to purchase the add-ons that have been selected to
coordinate so well with this kit.  Take a look at the beautiful "Mother Nature" line from
Ruby Rock-it, and Australian manufacturer.

Our Flower Add-on includes a beautiful vine and flowers from Prima and Making Memories.

The Embellishment Add-on is a collection of embellishments from Pink Paislee, Prima, Ruby Rock-It, Kaisercraft and Scrap FX.

The paper collection, and both add-ons are available for purchase in our Store.
We also have a few items from the embellishment add-on available individually.

Here's a layout created by one of the newest members of our Design Team.

"Mother" by Keren Tamir

When I saw the pink tones in this kit I knew I wanted to make a layout about motherhood with a picture of me and my kids. I cut the Royale paper in half and joined it to make a
smaller frame. Then I hid the seams using different embellishments. I also cut out the birds
from the paper and used pop-dots to raise them.
From the Flower Add-On:
Prima: Lucerne: Belle
Prima: Firefly: Stone

From the Embellishment Add-On:
Ruby Rock-It: Die Cut Pack: Mother Nature
Prima: Alphabet Stickers: Fairy Belle

A Little Holiday Cheer from Camilla and Romy

We've shown you how our December Kit, "Silent Night" can be used for everyday layouts, but today we thought we would show you a few holiday projects by Camilla and Romy.  Enjoy!

"December" by Camilla Ekman

December is my favourite month of the year (not counting the lovely summer months though...). Lots of preparations for Christmas and lots of joy together with my family.
These are my favourite Santas - my daughter and my son.

"Jul" by Camilla Ekman

Once Upon A Sketch offers a beautiful sketch each month.  This layout was created using the November Sketch.  You could choose whatever theme you want - I made one about what Christmas means to me. "Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas" - Calvin Coolidge.

"Christmas Tags" by Romy Veul
Tags seem to be my new addiction lately. I just love making them. These adorable angels on the Pion Design 'Collage' sheet made it so easy to whip up these two tags in no time at all!

Some Inspiration from Beverly and Erin

It's cold and rainy where I am and it's supposed to be that way for the next four days.  I have decided to hibernate all weekend!  Of course I'm planning to do some scrapbooking while I am hibernating.  Just in case you'll find some time to scrap this weekend, we thought we would share some inspiration from a couple of our Design Team members using our December Kit "Silent Night".

"Skiing 2012" by Beverly Sams

My son never misses a photo op no matter where he is! This was taken at the top of the mountain at Beaver Creek, Colorado on our family skiing trip this past winter.

"Joy" by Beverly Sams

These kids are so cute and their Mom has taken some great photos of them! This was taken under the Christmas tree last year and it looks as though they are being on their best behavior for Santa! I used a snowflake stencil with Martha Stewart's sparkling texture paste for the background.  This layout is based on the November sketch at Once Upon a Sketch.

"Angel" by Erin Blegen

My sister's daughter, Lilah, is one of my most favorite people. Probably because she reminds me a lot of myself- a fiery, temperamental redhead who is also sweet and fun, full of sarcasm and loves to be the center of attention! My sister actually captured this amazing photo of her and I knew instantly I wanted to scrap it! The pretty pinks in this kit, as well as the angel elements all just came together in this very fitting layout.

"My Deer" by Erin Blegen

When I saw this adorable little deer hat, I just knew I had to get it for my own little "deer", Gunner . I wanted to keep this page fairly simple in design to help keep the focus on this "typical" photo of my middle child. I also wanted to draw on the more "masculine" shades in this kit to give my layout a naturalistic feel to compliment my little outdoorsy boy.   This layout is based on the November Sketch from Once Upon a Sketch.
