Welcome our New Design Team Member & Giveaway Winner

We are pleased to announce that we have added another amazing designer to our team.  Join us in welcoming Larissa Albernaz to the C'est Magnifique Design Team.  Larissa has already started creating with our upcoming February kit.  You are going to love her style!

My name is Larissa Albernaz and I´m from São Paulo, Brazil. I´ve been married to my sweet husband Flávio for 12 years and we have an adorable daughter Isabela.

As a paper crafter, I have been scrapbooking for seven years. Along these years, scrapbooking has provided me a great sort of artistic possibilities and a lot of fun! In fact, I love scrapbooking because it provides me to  express myself in style, mixing paper, embellishments, colors, memories and a message.

While scrapbooking I pursue something that has sense to me, which inspires me and that can be different, interesting, cute, creative, colorful and fun!

I adore papers and creating page layouts or 3 dimensional pieces!. One of my life’s little pleasures is to cut, tear and distress papers, creating anything that translates the story I want to tell.My style is eclectic, crafty. I love adding a lot of layers to my collages, including some paints or inks and I pay great attention to the details.

I´m also on the design team at Prima Marketing, Webster`s Pages, 7 Dots Studio, The Color Room, {Entreartistes} magazine, Imaginarium Designs Chipboards  and Yummy´s, a Brazilian online store.

You can check out my works at my blog: http://www.lariscrap.typepad.com/

Beginnings and Ends

Today we share layouts created by one of our new design team members, and say good-bye to one who has been with us since the C'est Magnifique began.  Brit, one of our new members, will amaze you with her style.

You will also be inspired by the beauty of Beverly's layouts.  We are sad to say that this is the last month Beverly will be designing for C'est Magnifique Kits.  Like all things in life, sometimes we find that we need to move on.  Beverly explains it best by saying, "I first got into scrapbooking seriously a little over a year ago and I've had the best time with it since, but now I feel like I've had my run with it and that it's time for me to take my creative curiosity in other directions.  So, I don't feel like I'm leaving entirely, just taking a different path."  We will miss Beverly's amazing talent, her creativity, and her ability to make us all laugh.  Beverly, we wish you happiness, and want you to know that we all call you our friend.

"Brad and Sarah" by Beverly Sams

One of my cousins went on a cross-country road trip with his girlfriend this past summer, and came back with her as his fiancee. They look very happy in this photo and had a wonderful time. I brushed some cream colored paint onto the raised areas of this embossed Ruby Rock-it paper from their “Mother Nature” collection and highlighted some of the flowers with the same paint.

"A Forever Kind of Love" by Beverly Sams

My oldest brother and his wife in one of my favorites photos of them~ I used the Prima Chalk Edger in the kit to color the main part of the Leaky Shed chipboard clock and then embossed the trim and hands of the clock with silver embossing powder to bring out the detail. I liked the contrast of the matte gray against the shiny silver. on the Kaisercraft wooden flourish bird bath, I first painted it white, then used a stamp with the ink from the kit to embellish and shade parts of it to make it look a bit more dimensional.

 "solstrålen vår" by Brit Sviggum

I took this picture of my daughter last summer. She was then 2 1/2 years old. We were out for a walk in the woods, and she suddenly said; "Mom, I think I'm doing very well here in the wilderness" :) So I knew I had to use this photo for an outdoor scene.

"So Many Questions" by Brit Sviggum

This picture of my daughter was taken when we were visitning our family in Turkey. She found out that there were many things that weren`t the same in Turkey as in Norway. So she had so many questions.

Thanks for reading today.  We'll be back tomorrow to announce the winner of our Bit & Pieces Giveaway!

Inspiration Today from Erin and Valerie

Hi everyone!  We're back today with a few more projects from our designers using the January Kit.  Hope you find them inspiring!

"Brr!" Canvas by Erin Blegen

For whatever reason, my kids love to go outside when it is most cold out! Here it was about -1 degrees Fahrenheit and Gunner was happy as can be, exploring the new snow, despite the frigid temperature. I love how everything is white in the background here and truly represents what our winters are like here!
I focused on the blues in this kit to bring this canvas to life. The gesso applied randomly here and there is to lend to the "snowy" effect that I was going for.

"Priceless" by Erin Blegen

When I was pregnant with my second child, my sister was pregnant with her first and was due just 4 weeks ahead of me. It truly was a precious and priceless time in my life to be able to share this experience with my best friend! We definitely helped each other along through our experiences and I wanted to create something special to remember this time in our lives.

"Dream" by Valerie Serfozo

My niece, Macy, loves nothing better than to be on a swing. She can't yet swing herself, but is always able to sweet-talk someone into pushing her. I love this sweet photo of her taken at her sister's birthday party at the park. I really liked working with these aqua flowers against the soft blues of the paper.

 "Dad's Cal-Girl" by Valerie Serfozo

My niece Callie is affectionately called "Cal-girl" by her dad. I didn't like it at first, but now I think it's cute -for a baby. I sure hope he doesn't call her that in high school! Here she is at her 1st birthday party. I love it that this month's paper has so many beautiful items to cut out and use as embellishments.

Don't forget........you still have a couple of days remaining to sign up for our

Keren and Camilla Use our January Kit

Our January kit sold out quickly, but we want to show you how two members of our design team, Keren and Camilla, used the kit.  If you want to make sure you are able to get a kit each month, see the "Join" section of our website.

"Cousins" by Keren Tamir

This is a picture of my kids with their cousin. They only have one cousin living close to them and they love him so much. My son called me to the living room so I could take a picture of them. He set the 3 of them up on the floor and asked me to take the picture. I'm so happy they have at least one cousin close by. Its so nice to grow up with family. My cousins never grew up close to me.

"You Shine" by Keren Tamir

With all the beautiful blues in this kit, I really thought it fitting to make a layout about my son. I know a lot of people don't like using flowers for boys. I use flowers for art and in art there's no right or wrong for girls or boys. I really want to encourage people to use flowers in boy's layouts!! simply put why not????

"Days" by Camilla Ekman

Enjoy the little things for one day you'll look back and realise they were the big things. This is so true. The picture is from this summer. We were in Copenhagen together with our bestest friends and their children. Days like these are what matters - talking and having fun with family and friends.

"Beautiful Girl" by Camilla Ekman

A mix of soft coloured flowers together with a beautiful girl. The photo is framed with loads of flowers and cut-outs. Can you tell I long for summer?

Isn't our design team amazing!

"Treasured Memories" by Gerry van Gent

This photo of me and my son Alexander was taken last Summer while on vacation in Greece.
I combined here Mother Nature`s collection with Pink Paislee`s Collage Cards. I cut out different patterns from the collage cards to decorate the photo.

January Sketch Challenge

Happy New Year!  We would like to help you get started with a new sketch for January.  Our sketch designer, Michele Singh, has once again created a beautiful sketch for you to use.  What better way to start the new year than to take some time for yourself and do a little scrapping?   We know you all love give-aways, so head over to Michele's blog Design Honey, before January 6th to sign up for her giveaway!

Our Beautiful January Sketch

Three members of our Design Team and our Guest Designer have created a layout using this sketch and the January Kit, "Fights of Fancy":

"Love" by Keren Tamir

I used the January sketch as inspiration for this layout. There were 2 different pinkish tones in this Kit. The one I used in this layout is more of a peachy color. I made a layout about my husband and I using lots of peach colored embellishments. I love the cherub at the top holding the heart. Its so precious.

 "Beautiful Family" by Beverly Sams

The young couple here is the one from my layout “Dream” a few years later with their young boys. I thought the blues of their clothing were perfect matches for the papers and flowers in C’est Magnifique’s January kit. I first sprayed some turquoise Tattered Angels glimmer mist and immediately applied texture paste with a palette knife over a Martha Stewart stencil so that the paste would absorb some of the color. I then brushed white paint onto the raised areas of the paste after it dried.

"Spring Was Calling" by Gerry van Gent

Gerry is our January Guest Designer and she rotated the sketch to create this beautiful layout!

"Smiling Faces" by Brit Sviggum

I used this picture on last year`s Christmas card. I took a whole series of pictures, and I like them so much that I still keep making pages with them :D.

Hopefully you have been filled with inspiration and are ready to get started using the sketch yourself!  The sketch challenge is open to anyone and you may use any scrappy supplies that you have on hand.  No restrictions, no themes, just a sketch to follow.  You can rotate it, or use it as is.

We will have a prize package to award the winner, selected by a random draw.  Here is the prize package Leslie has put together for this month.  The winner of this prize will also be able to shop in the C'est Magnifique Store and their purchase will be shipped for free along with the prize - and who doesn't love free shipping?

Our second prize, a $10 gift certificate to the C'est Magnifique Store, will be randomly be awarded to one of the sketch participants who obviously creates their sketch layout using a C'est Magnifique Kit.

Lastly, we will be choosing 5 (or more) layouts to feature on our Blog when we announce the winners.
